Introducing My Satellite: a Sonic Odyssey in Psychedelic Indie Rock

From the creative pulse of Los Angeles emerges My Satellite, a band that fuses the lush, otherworldly textures of psychedelia with the grounded, emotional core of indie rock. Founded in 2009 by singer-songwriter Bryan Stage, the project began as a quiet spark that has since expanded into a glowing constellation of sound and storytelling.

That spark first took shape in 2010 with Telescopes, a solo release that offered a glimpse of what lay ahead—melodies that linger in the mind and lyrics that speak to the soul. By 2011, the EP Depths firmly established My Satellite within the indie scene, capturing attention with its depth and honesty.

As the band’s vision grew, so did its roster. Andy Marshall joined on bass, Sammi Doll on keys, Justin Paul on drums, and Ryan Ward on guitar. Together, they refined their sound, bringing a dynamic energy to the stage and the studio. Their single Mirrors broke through on Los Angeles’ legendary KROQ radio, propelling them toward their 2014 full-length album, Lift. A seamless blend of cosmic melodies and sharp pop sensibilities, Lift resonated with audiences, delivering infectious rhythms and poignant stories in equal measure.

As the years unfolded, the band experienced change. With some members departing, Stage and Marshall found themselves at a crossroads. Instead of standing still, they pushed forward, using personal transformation as fuel for their creative fire.

At Drooping Rug Studios in Los Angeles, they recorded Person. It’s a psychedelic concept album that follows the rise and fall of a relationship. Every track carries the weight of joy and loss, intimacy and distance. “We wanted to create something immersive,” Stage says. “An album that evokes real feelings and memories, that takes listeners on a journey they can feel deeply.” From moments of joy to heartbreak, from raw vulnerability to soaring connection, the album is an invitation to step into a shared human experience.

With each release, My Satellite pushes the boundaries of what music can be, exploring uncharted emotional landscapes and inviting listeners to join them. Their sound continues to shine, a guiding light for anyone looking to lose themselves in the beauty of music and come out changed on the other side.
